Care & Maintenance

Preparing For Winter

Gather the fire wood and bring out the long johns, winter is coming and the best thing that you can do for your furniture is to put it in hibernation mode. We recommend placing your furniture in storage or covering it with a tarp and that you store all cushions and pillows in doors for the winter.

Marine Grade Polymer Frames

Clean everyday dirt and stains with a cleaner, such as Soft Scrub and a dish sponge. Be weary of nylon scrubbies or stiff nylon brushes as excess force can mar the finish.  Tough stains can be soaked with bleach.  Stains and marks have been successfully removed with the following branded products: Goof Off®, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser®, GOJO Orange Pumice Hand Cleaner and Simple Green.  To clean a petroleum stain such as grease or oil, use a citrus cleaner, alcohol or mineral spirits.  In severe cases, spray petroleum-based stains with WD40®. Then use toluene or acetone and a white nylon scrub pad (colored pads release staining dyes when combined with acetone).Do not use MEK, turpentine or naphtha solvent. If a mark or stain won’t come out, you may lightly sand the area. Be careful and only work on the stained area because sanding will remove the matte finish.

Powder Coated Aluminum Frames

Chlorinated water and salt water can both be wearying on your furniture. Use a mixture of mild detergent and water to gently wash your frame of any dirt, salt or chemicals. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes. We recommend using your preferred car wax on frames at least once a year to protect and maintain the original luster.

Wicker Frames

Clean wicker frames using a mixture of water and mild detergent with a soft sponge or cloth. Rinse clean. Glass tops can be cleaned using your standard glass cleaner.

Swivel Rockers and Gliders

To increase the longevity of your action piece lubricate it with lithium grease or petroleum jelly every 6 months or as needed.

Vinyl Straps

For vinyl straps use a mixture of water and a mild detergent. It is best to avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes.

Umbrellas

Only use mild detergent, soap and warm water. Do not use harsh, discordant or abrasive chemicals or cleaners. Do not use bleach. Do not use wax.  Read below for fabric cleaning instructions.
